Remembering the 19th Avenue Jet

From the 1950s to the early 1990s, three different retired Navy jets served as playground equipment in San Francisco's Larsen Park along 19th Avenue.

Now, after twenty jet-less years, Friends of Larsen Playground is working with District Four Supervisor Katy Tang, San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to create a new jet-inspired play structure for future generations.

Third Annual Soap Box Derby Oct 26!

The Friends of Larsen Playground's 3rd Annual 20th Avenue Soap Box Derby is October 26!

As you have probably seen, the renovation of Larsen Playground has begun, and in just a few months there will be a super cool jet plane for kids to play on! The Friends of Larsen Playground have been raising funds for this project over the last five years, and there are still a few little things that need funding. You can help by participating in the 3rd Annual 20th Ave. Soap Box Derby. Build a car, cheer one on, volunteer for the day, or just come by and have fun! It all happens:

Sunday October 26th, 11:00am - 3:00pm
20th Ave. between Wawona & Vicente
This is a family friendly event with food trucks, crafts and all kinds of fun for kids.
